Baby, look at them now....................

It is amazing how time takes it's toll.  I look at the before and after photos and can tell those that used their pay packet as "beer coupons" instead of mortage payments.  They may try and tell you it was the hard yakka they put in while in boats, if you fall for that you will fall for anything.

Served on Boats from 1976 to 1999, then helped shut down Plats. Very sad occasion. Paid off in 2002 at Cairns. Did Part 3 with Keith Calder, B. Badinock, Mac McLaren, Mick Carew, and so on. Great life, great guys, top runs ashore. Would do it again. Currently own a wrecking and scrap metal business in the Whitsundays. Call in if passing.

When I left the squadron at the end of 84 I was glad to take my discharge and run like hell. Surprisingly I later followed my time in the Navy with a stint in the Army (RASIGS), then a career?? in the public service. Now 20+ years later and looking back at my time in boats, I can say that it was a period of my life that seems to hold the strongest memories for me, both good and bad.

Served in boats from 86 to 2000, when I thought I would try the other side and gives skimmers a go. Got my buttons while serving on Hobart (one plus I guess). My time in boats is with out doubt the highlight of my career, and after 21 years in the mob, I always remember the people and the level of professionalism that I am still to find in the fleet. When talking with other submariners, one can't help getting that homesick feeling.
